Fun at the Pool

It was just me and Mason all weekend and we had a blast spending so much time together. Today was by far the best day of the weekend. We went to my Y's outdoor pool and had lots of fun playing and splashing in the water. As soon as we got in, Mason bent over and put his face right in the water. Of course, he sucked in water so started coughing but that didn't slow him down at all. He walked all around in the zero entry beach area checking everyone out. He was also fascinated with the mushroom fountain and kept saying he wanted to touch it. After about 15 minutes, Mason made a friend and they shared pool toys. He was cute playing with the other little kids. I am glad the little boys shared their toys with Mason since I was a bad mommy and left all of ours at home!

Mason watched several bigger kids jumping off the wall into the pool and started running over to the side saying, "Mason do it. Mason jump!" I helped him up to the side and before I could let go good he went to jumping. He jumped off the side a dozen times or more. I did not let him go completely under. I'll save that for  later in the summer!

I have a feeling we will be spending most of our weekends at the pool. Mason loved it and I must say I did too! It melts my heart seeing Mason smile and have so much fun.

Until next time......

Fussy, Whiney Guy

WOW this week I have seen a different little boy than I am used to. He has been a fussy, whiney little guy from the time he gets up in the mornings to the time he goes to bed. I have gotten used to him waking up and playing in his crib, entertaining himself for 15 - 30 minutes before getting bored and wanting to get out. This has allowed me to finish getting dressed in the mornings before going up to get him. This past week he has woken up crying and calling for me as soon as his eyes are open. While I don't like leaving him crying in his crib, it is nearly impossible to get dressed with him screaming and wanting to be held. Once I go up to get him, he screams and fusses the entire time I am getting him dressed. Nothing seems to satisfy him. All of that screaming just makes for a wonderful start to the day.

His daycare teacher has said he has has several rough days at daycare too. The evenings have also been filled with lots of screaming fits as well. I am not sure what is going on. Is this just a stage that he is going through? Are his teeth hurting him and crying fits are the only way he knows how to express his pain? Have I been too lenient on him during his little fits that he has already learned he just needs to be an ill pill to get his way? Whatever it is, I am not a fan of the fussy, whiney little toddler as much as I am the easy going, go with the flow little buddy.

Let's hope it is a stage and it only lasted a week. I'd like for my sweet, silly little guy to come back to our house for awhile. Is he out there somewhere? If you see him, please send him back. :-)

Until next time......

Happy 10th Year Anniversary

Today is mine and Dawn's 10th year anniversary. My how time flies when you are having fun! Ten years ago tonight, we exchanged rings and shared vows in the moonlight on the beach. It was an amazing night for us. The past 10 years have been the best years of my adult life and I owe the majority of that to Dawn. I am thankful for the love we share and the family we have made together and am looking forward to many, many more years together.

Happy Anniversary honey. I love you.

Until next time......

Great Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a great day. Mason let us sleep in until 7:45 and then it was rise and shine! I went up to get Mason as I do every morning but this morning we had a little project to finish before going downstairs.  Mason had to "sign" his Mother's Day card for his momma (Dawn). He was excited about getting to color so early in the morning. He was too cute looking at me with this look on his face like wow, I've never gotten to color in the crib! After we finished decorating the card, we headed downstairs to exchange presents. Mason handed Dawn her bag of presents and then he handed me mine. He helped open each gift and enjoyed showing us what was in the bags.  Mason gave Dawn a candle and an outfit and he gave me a candle and a birdfeeder.
Dawn's mom and her husband were visiting with us so we also gave Nana her Mother's Day gifts and then enjoyed a wonderful breakfast together. After breakfast, Nana and Big G had to leave to go our to great grandmothers for lunch and Dawn had to leave to go visit her father in the hospital so Mason and I spent the rest of the morning and the afternoon together.  We went on a little field trip to Lowes (the home improvement store) to have a little fun on the lawn mowers. Yep, that's right. It's the best free field trip in the world for little boys that love lawn mowers. After about an hour, we decided to walk around and look at the bird feeders and all of the cool yard ornaments. Mason had a blast picking each one up and giving them a kiss before putting them back down. It was awesome watching him explore.

It was time for lunch so we headed back home to eat. After lunch, we both took a nap. After our naps, we played outside on the play structure for a couple of hours until Dawn got home. We then we out to eat for dinner. It was an awesome day.

I hope you had a great day too.

Until next time......

Early Mother's Day Gift

Today when I took Mason to daycare, his teacher called him over and handed him something and said go give this to mommy. He then walked over to me with a big smile on his face and then handed me an early Mother's Day present. It melted my heart. If you click on the picture it will open up larger to give you a better view. I walked out of daycare with the biggest smile on my face and when I got in the car, I just looked at it for several minutes before driving off and then thought about how being a mom has been the most amazing thing I have ever done and most likely will ever do. I absolutely love Mason like nothing or no one I have ever loved before. He is my life and I cannot imagine what life was like before him.

I will keep this forever and ever. It will be a reminder of those sweet little hands long after those sweet little hands grow bigger and bigger with each passing day. I love you Mason!

Until next time......

You Are My I Love You

I read this poem on a friend of mine's blog and loved it so much that I wanted to post it here for my few followers to enjoy!

You Are My I Love You
Author: Maryann K Cusimano

I am your parent you are my child
I am your quiet place, you are my wild

I am your calm face, you are my giggle
I am your wait, you are my wiggle

I am your audience, you are my clown
I am your London Bridge, you are my falling down

I am your Carrot Sticks, you are my licorice
I am your dandelion, you are my first wish

I am your water wings, you are my deep
I am your open arms, you are my running leap

I am your way home, you are my new path
I am your dry towel, you are my wet bath

I am your dinner you are my chocolate cake
I am your bedtime, you are my wide awake

I am your finish line, you are my race
I am your praying hands, you are my saving grace

I am your favorite book, you are my new lines
I am your nightlight, you are my sunshine

I am your lullaby, you are my peek-a-boo
I am your kiss goodnight, you are my I love you

Happy Mother's Day to all of my mommy friends out there. If you are not a mommy yet but have the desire to be one day know and believe in your heart that it will happen. Don't ever quit believing that.

Until next time......

Our Vacation to Las Vegas

Vacation was wonderful. It was great to get away and for Dawn and I to spend some time together. We stayed in our timeshare which was about 4 miles from the Las Vegas strip. This was the first time that we have not stayed on the strip and because we had rented a car, it was no big deal at all. We had already decided to do some sight seeing and exploring around while we were visiting this time. Our first day there we spent some time walking around the place where we were staying and checked out the new Southpoint Casino which was next door. It was an OK place but nothing like the newer casinos on the strip. The restaurants were great. We actually ate most of our meals there. We did the timeshare update and while they tried really hard, we decided we did not need to purchase additional points this time. We needed to pay off some of our most recent purchases (the huge playstructure) before spending any more money!

On our second day we spent most of our time revisiting some of our favorite places on the strip such as the Bellagio and the Venetian. These places are incredible. The architecture and decor is absolutely spectacular.  If you get a chance, at least check out the Fountains at the Bellagio. The fountain show is amazing and it is just as beautiful each time you see it.

Below are a few pictures from our first sight seeing trip to Red Rock Canyon. We did a little climbing on the rocks and smaller canyons while we enjoyed the scenery and the very pleasant weather. The temperatures were in the mid 80's during the day and in the 60's at night. The last couple of times we have been in Vegas it was H.O.T. as in 115 degrees hot so this was very different for us. We have decided that our future visits will be in April from now on!

On our next adventure, we went to the Valley of Fire State Park. It was beautiful and the landscapes were breathtaking.  We saw our first petroglyphs and got a little more adventurous with our rock climbing. A few pictures for your viewing pleasure are below.

The next day of travels took us to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Dawn was really interested in seeing the famous "London Bridge". I'd never heard of it (no surprise here!) but was up for the trip. After we arrived, I thought to myself, we drove two and a half hours just for this. I must admit I was hoping there would be more to see since it was a long ride! Leave it to Dawn, she had read up on what to do while visiting LHC so it ended up being a great day trip.  We saw the bridge, took a tour of the lake, visited Copper Canyon and its surroundings via a small chartered boat. Captian Kenny was a great tour guide and shared a lot of interesting stuff about the area. We spent a couple of hours on the water between the mountains of California and Arizona and again the views were just incredible.  A few pictures below just so you have an idea. I took over 300 pictures with my camera and over a 100 with my cell phone so it was difficult trying to pick only a few to share.

On the way back, we went to Lake Mead and drove over the new Arch Bridge over the Hoover Dam. We didn't do the dam tour (haha) this time as we did that the last time we visited the area!  Regardless of how many times you see the Hoover Dam, if you are like me you are amazed each time you see it. W.O.W. just an enormous landmark. Lake Mead is much prettier from a distance in my opinion. We put our toes in the water so we could say we did but that is about all we did while we were there. It was getting late and we were tired from all of the driving / riding! More pictures for you to enjoy....

Well that is a brief summary of the fun we had while we were out west. We had a really good time and are looking forward to taking Mason when he is older. We hope he will enjoy traveling as much as we do. We are also looking forward to many more vacations for years to come.

Until next time......
